The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced that any residents of India who applied for an Aadhar card prior to April 1, 2012 should re-enroll. This statement comes after hundreds, possibly thousands of residents have been waiting well over a year to receive their Aadhar cards.
It is also advised that if a resident checks their Aadhar card status and receives an “Aadhar Enrolment has been rejected”, "Aadhar enrollment failed", or “enrollment cannot be processed due to technical reasons” status, they should re-enroll as well.
For residents who enrolled after April 1, 2012 and have received a “EID not available" or “Number under generation" status, it is recommended that they wait a month and check their status again.
The information for residents who enrolled prior to April 1, 2012 has either gone missing or is no longer in a useable form due to errors in the encryption of the data. This has caused residents much frustration as they have been constantly checking the status of their cards only to find that the card has not yet been generated.
