In lieu of recent flooding and landslides in Uttarakhand, India, where the death toll has still not been determined, the focus on security from natural disasters has been heightened.
A new building is scheduled to be completed in Bangalore in 2014. This new building will hold a new Aadhar registration office and is unique in that it will be constructed to withstand both man-made and natural disasters like terrorist attacks, floods, and earthquakes. The first of its kind, the building will house sensitive digital information including the fingerprints and iris scans, among other data, from applicants of the Aadhar Card registration process. The security of the Aadhar digital information is the top priority so the building will be constructed with a category ‘C’ rating. The construction has been entrusted to Engineers India Limited (EIL) and the walls will be 500mm thick to add protection of the data. Once constructed, the center will have the ability to store 49152 Terabytes of information.
