The acknowledgement by Narayan Rane to withdraw the mandatory use of an Aadhaar card until every citizen has received one will allow those that need benefits more time to meet the requirement. Currently, only 50% of teachers and students possess an Aadhaar card. Teachers are expected to have an Aadhaar card before they can receive their salaries, and students will not receive scholarships, grant money, or even admission to school until they have furnished their Aadhar card.
"Efforts will be expedited by the state administration to ensure that every citizen is armed with an Aadhaar card. This will be done within a stipulated period,” Rane said. "Appropriate orders will be issued to district collectors to ensure citizens are not inconvenienced."
